Nordstrom’s Michigan Avenue flagship is getting a top-to-bottom renovation that will wrap up in 2015, The Chicago Tribune reports. The north-facing wall on the store’s fist floor—an area currently devoted to bags, hosiery, and skincare products—will be replaced with a a wall of windows overlooking Grand Avenue. Note: the store has never had much natural light before.
The beauty department will also get a renovation, and will adapt a Sephora-like business model that lets customers grab items off the shelves themselves. A new “beauty concierge” will help lead shoppers to the right cosmetic counters, and an aisle of “mini must-haves” will offer trial-size products.
Other new touches will include a first-floor restaurant called Habitant, new lighting, different layouts, and new artwork, furniture, and rugs.
