An article in today’s WWD explores the intricate partnership that is Prada and Bergdorf Goodman. “Our business relationship is based on a constructive collaboration,” Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli told the paper. “Each side has always sought to understand the needs of the other.” And this season, that entails handbags, shoes, and an intricate window display.
The Italian brand has four shoe styles and two handbags that are currently exclusive to the upscale department store before they’re available in dedicated Prada stores. In addition, the current window display features murals recreated from the spring 2014 show, which is featured in a print from the current line.
The two businesses “work in synergy in selecting products, with the closest attention paid to the requirements of the market and Bergdorf Goodman’s sophisticated clientele,” Bertelli explained. “On many occasions, products have been made especially for Bergdorf Goodman.”
With the addition of a menswear shop-in-shop in November 2011, “Bergdorf Goodman has the most comprehensive selection of Prada of any specialty or department store in America—and is the only one to represent all categories of the brand,” according to BG CEO Joshua Shulman. Looks like they’ve already taken their hot and heavy romance to the next level.
