Merry Christmas from M&S, Helena Bonham Carter, David Gandy and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
It might be Bonfire Night, but that doesn’t stop us getting a teeny tiny bit excited about Christmas. Mince Pies are now in supermarkets, the red cups are coming, department stores have been taken over by glittery baubles – and now this year’s Marks and Spencers Chrismas ad will hit our TV screens on Wednesday.
Magic and Sparkle’s ads have featured everyone from Wallis and Gromit to Peter Kay to Shirley Bassey and this year’s unlikely campaign star is wild-haired thesp Helena Bonham Carter. The short, directed by Johan Renck, focuses on Rosie Huntington Whiteley who chases her dog down a rabbit hole and moves between fairytale realms, such as the magical lands of The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Red Riding Hood. Of course she looks fabulous in tartan knits, red underwear and party frocks – we predict that red coat will sell out in minutes.

After riding on a magic carpet with Mr David Gandy, Rosie meets a green-faced Helena Bonham-Carter in the land of Oz, who says ‘love those red shoes!’ When the advert moves back to the real world it is Helena, wearing a faux-fur trimmed black coat, who has saved her little pooch.
So what do you think of this year’s M&S Christmas ad?
